LifeKids Code Best Practices

Updated on

At Life.Church, we display a code to let a parent know their child needs attention in LifeKids. We have one button for use on the switcher to display the 'LifeKids Code'. This article covers the steps and best practice methods for displaying a LifeKids Code on the screens during a service.

ProPresenter Preparation:

Step One: Clear all in ProPresenter

If any content is playing in ProPresenter, it must be cleared out before showing the LifeKids code. To clear all media in ProPresenter, click the "X" in the top right corner of the window labeled "Clear All".

Step Two: Show the LifeKids Code:

In the top toolbar of ProPresenter, select "Messages" to open the Messages menu

Select the "LifeKids Code" template and enter the code from the sticker.

Click "Show Message".

Verify the code is accurate.

Verify the code is in the top left corner of the ProPresenter preview window.

Before doing anything on the Ross Switcher, please do all proper preparation in ProPresenter.

Ross Switcher Operation:

The LK button in the bottom right corner of the switcher is used to display the LifeKids code. There is no need to set up the use of the button on the switcher, as it is preconfigured for this operation. Behind the scenes, the LK button is a down-stream key that erases the black portion of the image. If the proper measures are taken in ProPresenter, the LifeKids code will appear on the screens, overlaying the current source.

Best Practices:

A few best practices regarding the timing for displaying a LifeKids number:

  • LifeKids staff members use other methods to contact the parents before bringing a code to be displayed on the screens.
  • Please do not attempt to put up a LifeKids code during worship. As the video volunteer, you are running the lyrics, guiding the worship pastor through worship. If an error is made when attempting to run the lyrics and setting up the LifeKids code, that potential distraction could create an internal distraction for an audience member.
  • The sermon is the best and preferred section of service to display a LifeKids code. Please use caution, as the sermon is the most important thing during a service.
