Ross Switcher - Uploading Scenic Images

Updated on

This article will cover the workflow to get images onto the Ross Switcher to use on the Scenic Screen. You will need to sit by the Ross Switcher with a computer that has internet access.

Video Walkthrough:

1. Download the series' scenic image from Webdam.

2. Remove the USB drive from the switcher and insert it into the computer.

3. Open Finder and select the USB drive on the left sidebar.

4. Delete the old message/series graphic.

This can be done by right-clicking on the previous Scenic image and moving it to the trash.

5. Replace the old graphic with the new one.

Drag and drop, or copy and paste, the new graphic onto the first layer, or "root directory" of the USB drive.

6. Eject the USB drive and plug it back into the switcher.

7. Open Safari and select the bookmark labeled "Switcher".

8. After loading the Media Manager page, click on "USB" to view the images currently on the USB drive.

Do not click the dropdown triangle to view the images; instead, click directly on "USB" to view them.

9. Double-click the old message graphic to delete it from the switcher. When the message below pops up, click "Yes".

10. Load the new message graphic by clicking and dragging the image to a 'Mediastore' or 'M' location.

Notice there is a "mask" file, sometimes 2, in M1. Please do not move this file; ignore it unless it disappears. This allows the image to be displayed around the center screen instead of being displayed over it. If this file disappears, please contact the Tech team to restore it.

Move the new message graphic into "M3".

11. Check media number.

This is a crucial step: Go to Item Details in the bottom left and ensure the media number is set to '3'. If the media is not set to 'Media No. 3', it will not work properly.

12. Double-check your work.

Please use the hotkeys on the switcher for each of the new images to ensure they have been programmed correctly. Pro Tip: This double-check loads the images to ensure next time in service, when you press the hotkey, it will fade smoothly.
