At Life.Church, we use a center projector that displays on a retractable screen. This article will go over some common troubleshooting steps that are taken when the center projector or screen is showing one of the symptoms listed below.
This is most often caused by a transition from Black to Program getting cut short. The solution depends on whether you are in a service or not.
Please follow the steps below that correspond to the issue.
Please only proceed if you are not currently in a service.
Hit "Reset" and "Enter", followed by "PRE SRV" and "Enter" to reset any setting that could have been applied by accident on the Ross Switcher.
Please never press 'Reset' and then 'Enter', or 'PRE SRV' and then 'Enter' during a service. Doing so will badly disrupt the message.
If the screen does not return to it's normal brightness after performing the above process, please submit a Help Desk Ticket as soon as possible so we can provide next steps.
This is a delicate move, so please proceed with caution and stay alert.
Go to the Center PJ layer by hitting the "Center PJ" button on the switcher.
On the bottom row of sources (Preview), hold down the "Shift" button and press "BLK/PGM". Shift and BLK/PGM should now be lit up on the bottom row of sources.
BLK/PGM is most likely showing on both the Program row and the Preset row of the switcher. This is because the Center PJ layer is halfway through a transition.
Once BLK/PGM and Shift are lit up on the bottom row of the Center PJ layer, flip the T-bar slowly. After performing this, you should now see the screen brighten up.
If the screen does not return to it's normal brightness after performing the above process, please submit a Help Desk Ticket as soon as possible so we can help provide some next steps.
This may indicate an issue with the projector itself; please call the Life.Church Help Desk at (405) 216-2846 so we can verify some internal settings. If we are not able to answer the call, please submit a ticket as soon as possible so we can help provide next steps.
If the center projector will not display any source, please ensure that the projector is turned on
Once assuring the projector is on, there are 3 things to check.
1. Ensure the Center PJ Layer has PGM Selected as a Source:
Before performing this step, verify there is a source showing on the side projectors. It does not have to be any specific source, as any source will do.
Go to the Center PJ layer by pressing the "Center PJ" button on the switcher.
On the bottom row of sources (Preview), hold down the "Shift button" and press "BLK/PGM". This will prep the center screen to transition and show the same source as the side screens.
Once BLK/PGM and Shift are lit up on the bottom row of the Center PJ layer, flip the T-bar.
If the center screen does not follow the side screens, please move to step 2.
2. Verify that there is not a key applied to the center PJ layer.
Go to the Center PJ layer by pressing the "Center PJ" button on the switcher.
On the right hand side, next to the T-Bar, there are 4 larger buttons. If any of them are lit up white, press the button to turn it back off, or to a colored light.
If these 4 buttons aren't white and you still cannot see an image on the center screen, please move to step 3.
3. Open Safari and Click the Bookmark:
On the ProPresenter computer, open Safari and click the bookmark corresponding with the center projector:
Once the interface opens, click on the A/V mute button as shown below. An image should now display on the center screen.
If an image does not display on the center screen after the previous step, click the A/V mute button again. If this does not resolve the issue, call the Life.Church Tech Help Desk at (405) 216-2846. If we are unable to answer the call, please submit a ticket as soon as possible so we can help provide some next steps.
If the center projector will not turn on, start by looking for any blue lights on the bottom of the projector.
No Blue Lights:
Please call the Life.Church Tech Help Desk at (405) 216-2846. If we are unable to answer a call, please submit a Help Desk Ticket as soon as possible so we can help provide some next steps.
One Blue Light:
This means the projector is receiving power, but in standby mode.
If using the web interface to try turning the projector on, please try using a remote pointed directly at the projector and press the power button in the top-left section of the remote.
If using a remote already, try replacing batteries in the remote or using the web interface to turn the projector on.
If you have not used the web interface before, please refer to this quick video below to see how to operate it.
Orange or Red Lights:
Lights of these colors indicate a critical error. If these lights are on, please call the Life.Church Tech Help Desk at (405) 216-2846. If we are not able to answer the call, please submit a Help Desk Ticket as soon as possible so we can help provide next steps.
This is most often cause by an incorrect source button getting pressed on the Center PJ layer.
Go to the Center PJ layer by pressing the "Center PJ button".
On the bottom row of sources (Preview), hold down the "Shift" button and press "BLK/PGM". BLK/PGM and Shift should now be lit up white on the bottom row. This will prep the center screen to transition and follow the side screens.
Once BLK/PGM and Shift are lit up on the bottom row of the Center PJ layer, flip the T bar.
The following these steps, the center screen should now follow the side screens.
Press "PRE SRV", followed by "Enter" to set the correct settings back to the Center PJ layer.
When pressing PRE SRV and Enter, the side screens (PGM) will flip to ProPresenter. The Center and Scenic screens will both go black.
Go to the Center PJ layer by pressing the "Center PJ" button and flip the T-bar.
The Center Screen should now follow the side screens.
If the screen will not move up or down, please ensure the LynTec power system is showing as "On".
If the screen stops moving suddenly after heavy use, wait approximately 15 minutes and try moving it again. The motor that moves the screen has an overheat protection mode in place that will shut the motor down for for approximately 15 minutes in order to cool down.
If the LynTec has fully sequenced all of the outlets on, and the center screen is still not moving, please call the Life.Church Tech Help Desk at (405) 216-2846. If we are unable to answer the call, please submit a Help Desk Ticket as soon as possible so we can help provide some next steps.
