ProTools Computer: Checking/Changing Dante Interface Setting

Updated on

There are two places to check or change the Dante NIC (Network Interface Card): one in the Dante Virtual Soundcard application, and the second in the Dante Controller application. Please read through both sections below to walk through checking and changing the NIC settings.

We use a "link local" address for Dante at all of our locations. This means all Dante interface IP addresses are "169.254.xxx.xxx". This info will be helpful later if you have to change your Dante interface in any way.

Dante Controller:
  • Open the Dante Controller Application
  • Click on the "Choose a Dante Interface" button
  • Select the network interface card that has an IP address of 169.254.xxx.xxx
    • Leave the secondary interface empty.

Dante Virtual Soundcard:
  • Open the Dante Virtual Soundcard Application.

The Dante Virtual Soundcard (DVS) application should be on the dock of the protools computer. If the DVS app is not in the dock, search the computer for "Dante Virtual Soundcard", and the application should be in the search results.

  • Stop DVS by clicking the "Stop" button in the bottom right of the application window.
  • Change the Network Interface by clicking the selector arrows next to the Network Interface name.
  • Within a few second of changing the Network Interface, the correct IP address of 169.254.xxx.xxx should populate.

In the rare case when there is not a network interface that has an IP address of 169.254.xxx.xxx, please reboot the computer and repeat the process.

  • Click "Start" to start DVS.
