Calibrating a Smaart Microphone

Updated on

You will need to request a calibrator from the Tech Team to calibrate your Smaart Microphone. This can be done via opening a ticket by sending an email to [email protected] or going to tech.life.church to submit a ticket for the request.

When Your Calibrator Arrives:

When your calibrator arrives, you should receive the ISEMcon SC-1 Calibrator and two different-sized adapters to set the calibrator onto the Smaart Microphone.

Unless at NOC or ALB, use the larger of the two adapters.

Setting Up Your Smaart Microphone for Calibration:

You must stop logging before you calibrate your Smaart Microphone. It won't work if this is left on.

  • Locate the ISEMcon SC-1 Microphone Calibrator.
  • Press "⌥ A" to open the I-O config menu.
  • Navigate to the microphone Input; in the example shown below, Input 49 from Dante Virtual Soundcard is the microphone input.
  • First, click on the input; second, click "Calibrate".
  • Go to the mic and point it straight towards the ceiling. Look at the calibrator and verify the larger mic guard is inserted into the calibrator. Slide the Calibrator over the microphone until the calibrator is resting on the mic. The calibrator should be able to balance on the mic nicely.
  • Turn the calibrator on and verify that 94 dB is selected on the back panel.
  • Head back to Smaart and verify the microphone is the selected input in the calibrate window.
  • Once verified, click "calibrate" at the bottom of the window.
  • Let Smaart calibrate the input level and then press "Apply".

Once the Microphone is Calibrated:

Once the microphone has been calibrated and reading 94 db, you can start logging again and get back to those awesome jams!
