Center Projector/Screen Troubleshooting

Updated on

At Life.Church, we use a center projector that displays on a recessed screen. This article will go over some common troubleshooting steps that are taken when the center projector or screen is showing a symptom listed below.

Center projector image is very dim

Most of the time, this is caused by a transition from Black to Program getting cut short. The solution to this is dependent on if you are in a service or not.

Follow the corresponding steps below.

IF YOU ARE NOT IN A SERVICE

ONLY PERFORM THIS IF YOU ARE NOT IN A SERVICE!!

Hit RESET and ENTER, followed by PRE SRV and ENTER to reset any setting that could have been applied by accident on the Ross Switcher.

NEVER HIT RESET AND ENTER OR PRE SRV AND ENTER DURING A SERVICE. Doing so will terribly disrupt the message.

If the screen does not return to it's normal brightness after performing the above process, please submit a Help Desk Ticket as soon as possible so we can help provide some next steps.

IF YOU ARE IN A SERVICE

This is a delicate move! Please proceed with caution, and stay on your toes!

Go to the Center PJ layer by hitting the CENTER PJ button on the switcher.

On the bottom row of sources(Preview), hold down the SHIFT button and hit BLK/PGM. Shift and BLK/PGM should now be lit up on the bottom row of sources.

BLK/PGM is most likely showing on both the PROGRAM row and the PRESET row of the switcher. This is because the center pj layer is halfway through a transition.

Once BLK/PGM AND SHIFT are lit up on the bottom row of the Center PJ layer, flip the T bar slowly.

You should see the screen brighten up.

If the screen does not return to it's normal brightness after performing the above process,  please submit a Help Desk Ticket as soon as possible so we can help provide some next steps.

Center projector image is yellow

This may indicate an issue with the projector, so please call the Life.Church Help Desk at (405) 216-2846 and we can verify some internal settings. If we are not able to answer the call, please SUBMIT A TICKET as soon as possible so we can help provide some next steps.

Image will not show on screen

If the center projector will not display any source, please first make sure that the projector is turned on

Once assuring that the projector is on, there are 3 things to check.

1. Make sure that the Center PJ layer has PGM selected as a source

Before performing this step, verify that a source is showing on the side projectors. It does not have to be any specific source. Any source will do.

Go to the Center PJ layer by hitting the CENTER PJ button on the switcher.

On the bottom row of sources(Preview), hold down the SHIFT button and hit BLK/PGM. This will prep the center screen to transition to show the same source as the side screens.

Once BLK/PGM AND SHIFT are lit up on the bottom row of the Center PJ layer, flip the T bar.

If the center screen does not follow the side screens, please move to step 2.

2. Verify that there is not a key applied to the center PJ layer.

Go to the Center PJ layer by hitting the CENTER PJ button on the switcher.

On the right hand side, next to the T-Bar, there are 4 bigger buttons. If ANY of them are WHITE, hit that button to change it back to off, or a colored light.

If none of these 4 buttons are white and you still cannot see an image on the center screen, please move to step 3.

3. On the Propresenter computer, open safari and click the bookmark that corresponds with the center projector.

Once the interface opens, click on the A/V mute button (shown below). If an image comes up on the center screen, you're done!

If an image does not come up on the center screen, please hit the A/V mute button again. If this does not resolve the issue, call the Life.Church Tech Help Desk at (405) 216-2846. If we are not able to answer the call, please SUBMIT A TICKET as soon as possible so we can help provide some next steps.

Center projector will not turn on

If the center projector will not turn on, start by looking for any blue lights that are on the bottom of the projector.

No blue lights at all

Please call the Life.Church Tech Help Desk at (405) 216-2846. If we are not able to answer the call, please submit a Help Desk Ticket as soon as possible so we can help provide some next steps.

One blue light

This means that the projector is receiving power, but is on stand by.

If using the web interface to try and turn the projector on, please try to use a remote pointed directly at the projector and hit the power button in the top section of the remote.

If using a remote already, please try replacing batteries in the remote, or using the web interface to turn the projector on.

If you have not used the web interface before, please refer to the quick video below to see how.

Orange or red lights

This indicates a critical error. Please call the Life.Church Tech Help Desk at (405) 216-2846. If we are not able to answer the call, please submit a Help Desk Ticket as soon as possible so we can help provide some next steps.

Center projector image is not following side screens

This is normally cause by an incorrect source button getting pressed on the CENTER PJ layer.

IF YOU ARE IN SERVICE

Go to the CENTER PJ layer by hitting the CENTER PJ button.

On the bottom row of sources(Preview), hold down the SHIFT button and hit BLK/PGM. BLK/PGM and SHIFT should now be lit up white on the bottom row. This will prep the center screen to transition to follow the side screens.

Once BLK/PGM AND SHIFT are lit up on the bottom row of the Center PJ layer, flip the T bar.

The Center screen should now follow the side screens.

IF YOU ARE NOT IN SERVICE

Hit PRE SRV, followed by ENTER to put the correct settings back to the CENTER PJ layer.

When hitting PRE SRV and ENTER, the side screens(PGM) will flip to ProPresenter. The Center and Scenic screens will both go black.

Go to the CENTER PJ layer by hitting the CENTER PJ button, and flip the T bar.

The Center Screen should now follow the side screens.

Screen will not move up or down

If the screen will not move up or down, please first double check that the LynTec power system is showing as "ON".

If the screen stops moving suddenly after heavy use, wait 15 minutes and try again. The motor that moves the screen has a overheat protection mode that will shut the motor down for 15 minutes in order to cool down.

If LynTec has fully sequenced all of the outlets to be on, and the center screen is still not moving, please call the Life.Church Tech Help Desk at (405) 216-2846. If we are not able to answer the call, please submit a Help Desk Ticket as soon as possible so we can help provide some next steps.
