Updated on

This article is formally known as Smurf Craig. We have largely passed these days but we want to honor and appreciate our past! Occasionally when equipment was powered up for the day, the lobby TVs might be smurf blue - aka Smurf Craig! Help!

This article will help you troubleshoot why a TV or a Projector at your campus might have turned a solid color and how to fix it.

Alert: This article is in draft but we needed to new the new information out.

Decimator Color Standard

If you see one of the solid colors within your building, please call the Tech Help line immediately.

We will use the given color that you communicate to help us troubleshoot the source of the problem.

This color standard can save us precious time during the weekend and help us help you get up and running in minutes.

Yellow = Stage Display at FOH Video

Magenta = Desk Input at FOH Video

White = Projectors (whole building)

Cyan = Loop/Konnect Booth

Red = TVs (whole building)

We should get some photos to show some examples. 😉📸

Troubleshooting color issues on your lobby TVs.

The information below helps you troubleshoot your Lobby TV or other TV within the building. It can still be used in principle to help troubleshoot each step. Please be aware that Decimators (the Red boxes) have replaced AJA Hi5s throughout our buildings.

Power Cycle AJA Hi5

Power Cycle AJA Hi5

You will find a Hi5 on top of the Lobby TVs. Please unplug this box by rotating the locking connector counterclockwise and pulling. You will know when it unlocks. Then plug it back in and rotated the connect until it clicks to lock.

Did this fix the issue?  If not, proceed to the next step.

Power Cycle HDMI Splitter

Power Cycle HDMI Splitter

Also if you have a pair of TVs, you might find a HDMI splitter with an HDMI cable going to each TV.  Please unplug the splitter and plug it back in.
