Ross Switcher : Uploading Scenic Images

Updated on

This article covers the workflow to get images into the Ross Switcher to use on the Scenic Screen.   You'll need to be sitting by the Ross Switcher and need a computer with internet access.  Let's Go!

Video Walk Through for all of you visual learners!

1. Download the Series Scenic Image from Webdam

2. Remove the USB drive from the switcher. Plug it into the computer.

3. Open up Finder. Select the USB drive on the left-hand side bar.

4. Delete the old message/series graphic.

This is done by just right clicking on the previous Scenic image, and moving it to the trash.

5. Replace it with the new one

Drag and drop or copy and paste the new graphic onto the first layer or 'root directory' of the USB drive.

6. Eject the USB drive. Plug it back into the switcher.

7. Open up Safari and select the bookmark called "Switcher"

8. Once the Media Manager page loads, click on the word "USB" to view images that are currently on the USB.

Do not click to drop the menu down via the disclosure triangle or carrot. Click on the actual word "USB" to view images.

9. Double click on the old message graphic to delete it from the switcher.  When the message pops up, choose "yes".

10. Load the new message image by clicking and dragging the image to a "Mediastore" or "M" location.

Notice that there is a "mask" file (Or 2) in M1. Please do not drag this file anywhere. Ignore it, unless it disappears. This allows the image to be displayed around your center screen, and not on it.  If it disappears, contract the Tech Team to restore it.

Our new message graphic needs to go into "M3".

11. Check media number.

This step is CRUCIAL. We need to go over to ITEM DETAILS on the bottom left, and make sure that the media number is 3. If the media number is not set to 3, it will not work correctly.

Lastly Double Check Your Work

Please use the Hot Keys on the switcher for each of the new images that were added to double check you've programmed it all correct.   Pro Tip: This 'double-check' loads the images to ensure next time (in the service) you hit the hot key it will fade smoothly!

Great work!
