Reading Decibel Level Charts On Tableau

Updated on

This article will briefly explain the lay out of the Auditorium Decibel Levels tableau board.

Overview

1. First, select the desired campus code on the right hand side. For this example, I have chosen OPK.

2. Select the date of the measurements that you would like to view.

3. Next, select the Weighting Log that you would like to view. In most cases, we look at the dBA SPL Slow weighting.

For more information on weighting logs, please refer to Smaart Overview article's section on different weighting and target levels

4. Once the campus code, date and weighting log are selected, a visual will populate on the screen that shows decibel level over the selected date.

An occasional red line is not a bad thing. If measurements are consistently reading over the 100dBA threshold(creating a red line), we first check the microphone's calibration and go from there.

5. To view details on one reading, hover the mouse over that reading. A info box will pop up with details including date and decibel reading.

FAQ

What if my campus does not show any readings or is not in the list at all?

Please put in a ticket by emailing [email protected]. We will take a look at why this happened and do our best to retrieve that dB data.

Can I export this data?

Yes! Just hit the download button found in the top right of the dB visual.

As of right now, download options include Image(JPG), PDF or Powerpoint.

Can I view multiple dates at one time?

Great question! Viewing multiple dates is helpful to easily compare readings from two different dates. Just select both dates in the "Select Date" dropdown menu and both dates will populate in the visual.
