LifeKids Code Best Practices

Updated on

At Life.Church we put up a code to let a parent know that their child needs attention, we simply use one button on the switcher to display the 'LifeKids Code'.This article covers the steps and best practice methods for displaying a LifeKids Code on the screens during a service.

ProPresenter preparation

Step One: Clear all in ProPresenter

If there is any content playing in ProPresenter, it MUST be cleared out before showing the LifeKids code. To clear all media in ProPresenter, click the "X" in the top right corner of the window labeled "Clear All"

Step Two: Show LifeKids code

In the top toolbar of ProPresenter, select "Messages" to open the messages menu

Select the LifeKids code template, and enter in the code given via the sticker.

Hit "Show Message"

Verify that the code is accurate

Verify it is in the top left corner of the ProPresenter preview window.

Before touching anything on the Ross Switcher, please do all the proper preparation in ProPresenter.

Ross Switcher Operation

The LK button in the bottom right corner of the switcher is used to display the LifeKids code. There is no need to 'setup' the use of the button on the switcher, it is preconfigured to work perfectly every time.  In technical terms, the LK button is a down stream key that erases the black portion of the image. If the correct preparation steps in ProPresenter were taken, we will  see the LifeKids code over-layed on the screens on top of the current source.

Best Practices

A few best practices concerning the timing for displaying a LifeKids number:

  • The LifeKids staff uses other methods to contact the parent before bringing a code to be displayed on the screens.
  • Please do not attempt to put up a LifeKids code during Worship.  You as the video volunteer are running the lyrics, essentially leading the worship pastor in worship.  The worship pastor is then leading the 500+ audience members.  If an error is made while attempting to run the lyrics and setting up the LifeKids code, that potential distraction could create eternal distraction to an audience member.
  • The sermon is really the best section of the service to display a LifeKids code.  Please use caution, the sermon is the most important thing we do!
